The NISMO connection for Australian enthusiasts now has a new workshop address. Nissan says its first NISMO Performance Centre outside Japan has opened at Ferntree Gully Nissan in Melbourne, with the launch held on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The October 5 opening announcement follows the Australian program unveiled on May 22 by Nissan Motorsports & Customizing and Nissan Oceania. The dealership sits at 1000 Burwood Highway in Ferntree Gully, Victoria; the Skylines Australia NSW event listing also confirms the October 4 launch date.

What the Omori connection brings

Nissan describes the Melbourne operation as a direct connection to Japan’s Omori Factory, offering access to authentic NISMO performance and heritage parts, support for advanced restoration programs, and factory-certified NISMO Meisters.

Omori Factory is NISMO’s own specialist workshop in Yokohama. Its staff includes mechanics with Nissan works motorsport experience, and its published services run from vehicle diagnosis and chassis refresh work to engine overhauls, tuning and restoration.

That combination gives the connection substance: parts selection and the expertise to plan the work belong together.

There is a practical reason a local contact matters, too. Omori’s overseas customer guidance says its specialists communicate in Japanese and directs customers living outside Japan to use an agent for direct dealings with the workshop. An Australian centre could simplify the first conversation about a project. Its individual service arrangements will determine how much of that process happens locally.

Where the Z fits

Omori’s own records give Z owners a concrete reason to follow this. A February 2025 workshop report describes an RZ34 receiving NISMO Sports Resetting and a titanium exhaust, a Z34 NISMO receiving Sports Resetting, and another Z34 Version NISMO undergoing an inspection before circuit use. These are documented examples of Z work at the Japanese facility.

For an owner, those jobs also illustrate the range of useful specialist support: tuning, parts installation and checking a car before a track outing. The interesting question for Melbourne is which of those services will become available for Australian cars.

The named starting point for Nissan’s global heritage expansion remains the R32, R33 and R34 Skyline GT-R. The opening announcement does not establish an S30 or Z32 restoration program, or confirm Australian availability of Omori’s Japanese Z tuning packages. Owners should ask the Melbourne centre about their exact model, year and existing modifications, along with the scope and price of the proposed work.

More Australian centres from 2027

Nissan says additional Australian Performance Centres will begin opening from 2027, with further details to follow. Ferntree Gully is the first operating location in that rollout. For Z owners, the next useful development will be a Melbourne service menu that spells out supported generations, available work and local pricing.
